The CvT’s involvement
in the Faculty’s curriculum ŕ Academische vaardigheden,
met seminariewerk - (Research Skills and Research
Paper) AAC3 Students in the third year of the Bachelor of applied language studies write
a bachelor paper training their research skills. An introduction into terminological research is included in the taught part of the
course that prepares them for this assignment. ŕ Terminologie en vertaaltechnologie
- (Terminology and Translation
Technology) A4TV This is an obligatory course for all
students of the Master of translation
(recognized by the EU as an EMT master). Students are introduced to the
principles and practice of terminology, terminography
and terminology management systems. The course also covers other aspects
like: terminology mining, term extraction, translation memory and alignment,
localization (introductory), machine translation (introductory) etc. Students are introduced to a variety of
programmes and gain hands-on experience with SDL Multiterm
5.5, SDL Multiterm 2009, SDL Trados
Studio 2009 and Wordfast Classic. They have to hand in two assignments as
part of their course assessment. * CvT Staff Members Carine De Groote and Joost Buysschaert are
in charge of this unit of study. ŕ Terminology
and terminography - XTTT This is a core component of the
postgraduate course Dutch
and translation (organized for students who do not have Dutch
as their mother tongue). The unit of study deals with theoretical as well as
practical issues in terminology and terminography. * CvT Staff
Member Carine De Groote is in
charge of this unit of study. ŕ Masterproef - MA Dissertation Arguably the CvT ’s main involvement in the Facuty’s curriculum is its support for the master theses
in all three of the Faculty’s Master programmes: A comprehensive site on the College’s electronic learning environment gives
elaborate guidance to students who are preparing a terminological thesis. *
All the CvT ’s Staff Members are involved in the
supervision of terminological MA dissertations. |
